Katie is 2>3yrs old, weighs 30lbs, is a purebred 15" Beagle. adoption fee: $275(includes spay, micro-chip, current on all vaccines, flea/tick prevention,health certficate and transport to NJ/NY area). Katie is VERY SWEET, gentle and friendly yet independent as any typical Beagle who WILL follow her nose in to trouble IF not supervised/fenced-in properly. However, Katie seems to be very contented to stay inside a 5 acre compound with only 3 1/2'>4'h fencing, as long as she has room to hunt and friends to share the day with. NO more free-roaming allowed. for this gal...just too sweet/trusting..not, even in a rural/country setting. Poor little Miss Katie was rescued after she had been abandoned in a rural farming community in Rutherford Co, NC. She had been taken in by a nice couple who found her on their front porch and who had put up a fenced -in area for Katie to live in, outside. However, Katie didn't like being alone, nor confined to a dog lot/kennel so she would not stay in the 4' high fence, and was then shot by a neighbor. It was a flesh wound, but definitely a warning that she was not welcome in their yard(it was reported to H4S that they raise Pit Bulls, so it wasn't a 'good, safe place' for Katie to be, anyway!). Then, Katie turned up heart worm positive...she is undergoing treatment on Sept 16th and 17th, and will be ready to go to her new family on October 19th. H4S CARes absorbs all medical-related heart worm treatment. Katie's last owner contacted H4S and asked for help in placing her in another home where she would be safe and get more attention and maybe have a buddy to 'hang out' with.i Miss Katie recovered quickly and is in foster care in Rutherfordton, NC and will be transported to their pre-approved adoptive families from western NC to as far north as CT/NY line.All interested adopters must be at least 25 yrs old and many cases, especially where there will be children in the home, a secured fenced-in yard is required.You are required to send your completed application as a pdf attachment or copy & paste the application below in to a new email, COMPLETE ALL QUESTIONS and email to: [email removed], to be considered as a potential adopter.
